Studio Banana Leaf, 2020
My grandfather taught me how to weave banana leaves. In the Philippines I spent afternoons weaving leaves and making kamayan-style arrangements with plants and items from his garden and kitchen, which quickly dried and disintegrated in the heat. The table and the banana leaf served as my studio during the time I was there.
After he passed away the following year in 2021, the woven banana leaves became my memorial and remembrance of him.
